In the first two editions of the Snow Marathon, though the route mentioned for the 4th edition below was planned, but because of the snow melt in the last few days prior to the event, the organisers were forced to alter the route to the banks of the Chandra River in 10.5 km loops. In the 3rd Edition, Lahaul experienced heavy snowfall, followed by a series of avalanches, leading to total roadblocks. So, the location was shifted to Jana in Kullu. The 4th Edition of Snow Marathon Lahaul will be run in a fascinating loop of 21.097 km. The course will begin from North Portal and head out towards Khoksar and Gramphu, and then back up the Manali-Leh Highway and then higher up to the whitewashed hill link roads across the monasteries and open snowed over fields and meadows and then down to the semi-frozen Chandra River. The running route is a mix of level roads, river-valley floor, trails and hill ascents and descents. Does it get more dramatically better and even more satisfying and challenging than that!? Be ready for a surprise at every step, twist and turn, and the natural slide down and back!
